Annual Application Cycle

Important Dates & Deadlines

Step Up for Students scholarship applications follow a structured annual cycle. Knowing these key phases helps ensure your family doesn't miss critical windows for funding.

Fall — Prior Year
Application Period Opens
Step Up for Students begins accepting applications for the upcoming school year — typically in late fall.
Winter — Early Spring
Priority Application Window
Families who apply early are placed higher in the funding queue — the sooner you apply, the better your chances of a full award.
Spring Deadline
Renewal Deadline (Current Recipients)
Current scholarship holders must renew by the spring deadline to maintain funding for the following school year.
Late Summer
Award Notifications & Funding Begins
Scholarship awards are confirmed and funding is disbursed in time for the new school year.

Apply early — funding is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage all eligible families to apply as early as possible to maximize their chances of receiving a full award. Contact NMBA Admissions for help getting started at any point in the process. Exact dates vary by school year. Please visit stepupforstudents.org or contact our admissions office for the most current application deadlines.

Getting Started

How to Apply

1
Check Your Eligibility
Visit the Step Up for Students website to review eligibility requirements for each scholarship program. Eligibility is based on household income, disability status, or school experience. Contact our admissions office if you need help determining which program fits your family.
2
Submit Your Application
Apply directly through the Step Up for Students online portal at stepupforstudents.org. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis — apply as early as possible once the annual window opens to maximize your award opportunity.
3
Notify NMBA Admissions
Once your scholarship application is submitted or approved, contact our admissions office so we can coordinate your enrollment, confirm your scholarship award, and walk you through any remaining steps to secure your student's spot at NMBA.
Additional Financial Assistance Options
Beyond Step Up scholarships, NMBA offers several additional ways to help families manage the cost of enrollment.
Payment Plan Discounts
Save on tuition by choosing a lump-sum payment plan. A single upfront payment earns an 8% tuition discount, while a 2-payment plan earns 5% off tuition. The 4-payment plan is available at full price for maximum flexibility. Discounts apply to tuition only.
Sibling Enrollment Discounts
Families enrolling more than one student at NMBA may qualify for a sibling tuition discount on each additional enrollment. Contact our admissions office for current sibling discount details and how to apply them at checkout.
NAFSA & International Student Support
International student families can explore NAFSA resources and international education financing options. NMBA is an authorized I-20 issuing institution and our team can help navigate funding pathways for international enrollees.
